No, no one knew the show was gonna be cancelled. If they did, they wouldn't have written and filmed a cliffhanger like that with a new story arc they had only just established. They would have tried to wrap up the show. Of course everyone knew that the ratings had dropped and things were up in the air. But I guess they all kept hoping that CBS wouldn't be this stupid. Alas, they were. I still wanna give Les Moonves a kick in a very sensitive part of the male anatomy.

My best guess is that even the producers and people involved in the show didn't know that Joan was gonna be cancelled until it was announced. Or maybe a few days before that, but certainly not weeks in advance.

Did the producers know that JoA would be cancelled before S2 was finished filming? Or some kind of hint? I guess if they knew before they'd try to rap up some things, right? But on the S2 commentaries they sounded so oblivious. Do they not know until the very last minute? I don't get it...
