When and why did this start? Wasn't it stated a while ago they wouldn't restrict the boards to orange users?

So I wasn't the only one affected, according to them it was some sort of glitch.

Edit: This problem has now been fixed and existing / grandfathered users should now be able to post without being asked to authenticate their account. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this problem.

We are currently looking into a problem which is causing existing users to be asked to authenticate their account before they can post.
Sorry about this, I will post again as soon as I hear anything more.

Illinois, it started around the time we had that miserable troll on the AD board. I was asked to verify back then, and I did.

They didn't ask me yet, but I saw that on other user profiles.

All I know is that I was asked to verify my account a while ago, and I had been on IMDb long before they started the verification function. Don't know if others have made the same experience.

Yeah, I knew that it was for new users, but I thought if you were on there before that went into effect that you didn't have to verify your account unless you were causing trouble on the boards. Which I haven't done anything that would warrant that. Heck I don't even post on there as much as I used to.

Oh well, whatever.

No, I don't think it's something new. I verified my account months ago. Maybe they're sending out reminders to users who haven't verified yet. For a while I think they very aggressively tried to keep trolls off the boards, and with the verification they want to avoid the same person having multiple accounts.

So I was just on IMDB this morning and I was going to post a reply to a post, when all of a sudden they asked me to verify my account. So I used my amazon.com account.

Is this something new.
